November 3, according to Google’s official support documentation, Chrome 120 browser will no longer support Android Nougat 7.0/7.1 versions.

This means that Android phones still running on these versions will remain on Chrome 119.

Google is planning to release the stable update of Chrome 120 on December 6, 2023. However, devices running on Android 7.0/7.1 will be unable to upgrade.

Google has already advised Android Nougat users to upgrade to the newer versions in a previous update of Chrome 119 for Android.

As previously reported, based on Google’s October Android version distribution data, there are still 2.6% of devices running on the Android Nougat system.

When was Google end the support for Android 7?

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Google was still providing security updates and support for Android 7 (Nougat).

However, Google typically provides major platform updates and security patches for Android versions for around two to three years from the date of their release.

Since Android 7.0 and 7.1 were released in August and October 2016, respectively, it’s likely that Google ended support for Android 7 sometime in 2019 or 2020.
