iPhone 15 Sales in China Show Significant Decline – First-Week Sales Drop by 4.5% Compared to Previous Generation! Everyone Seems to Be Buying the Huawei Mate 60.

Is Huawei’s Rise Impacting Apple’s Sales? At least in the Chinese market, it seems so.

On October 16th, according to data from market research company Counterpoint Research, sales of the iPhone 15 series in China during the first 17 days since its release decreased by 4.5% compared to the iPhone 14 series released in 2022.

Counterpoint estimates that Huawei’s Mate 60 Pro alone is expected to reach sales of 5 to 6 million units this year.

Leading the way, analyst Edison Lee of Jefferies Securities stated that thanks to the unexpected emergence of Huawei’s new models, Huawei has now surpassed Apple in the market, becoming the top-selling brand. The decline in iPhone 15 sales compared to its predecessors is more pronounced, possibly reaching a double-digit percentage decrease.

Previously, market research firm CINNO Research predicted that in 2023, Apple’s smartphone sales in the Chinese market might reach 45.5 million units, a slight 2% year-on-year decline. Among these, the latest iPhone 15 series is expected to achieve sales of around 10 million units in 2023, a 22% decline compared to the previous iPhone 14 series, which sold about 2.9 million units less during the same period.

It is estimated by Jibang Consulting that the iPhone 15 Pro series is expected to account for more than 60% of production output. The total annual production of iPhones is estimated to be between 220 million and 225 million units, a roughly 5% year-on-year decline.

Before this, Ming-Chi Kuo had stated that the iPhone 15 Plus might see an increase in orders as it exceeded earlier low expectations, but both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro sales fell below expectations. If Apple does not lower the prices, these two models might face reduced orders.
