MediaTek Goes Aggressive! Dimensity 9300 Packs 4 Enormous Cores and Performance Competing with Apple A17 Pro.
September 17th – MediaTek is set to release the Dimensity 9300 mobile platform in Q4 this year.
This chip is composed of 4 super-sized Cortex-X4 cores and 4 large Cortex-A720 cores, potentially putting it on par with Apple’s A17 Pro.
Currently, the A17 Pro achieves a Geekbench 6 single-core score close to 3000 points, with a multi-core score exceeding 7700 points.
As it is widely known, current flagship smartphone chips typically feature an 8-core CPU configuration, usually comprising large, small, and super-sized cores. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300, on the other hand, adopts an all-large core design, eliminating the small cores, and achieving a significant leap in performance and power efficiency.
According to information from Arm, the Cortex-X4 super-sized core will once again push the performance limits of smartphones, boasting a 15% improvement over the X3, thanks to a new efficient microarchitecture. On the same process node, the Cortex-X4 can reduce power consumption by 40%.
The adoption of a “full large-core CPU architecture” in the Dimensity 9300 platform signifies a trend in the development of future flagship chipsets. MediaTek is leading the way in the Android camp by abandoning small cores.
Without a doubt, the Dimensity 9300, with its 4 super-sized cores, will be a formidable competitor to the Apple A17 Pro, and it is something to look forward to.
