Microsoft Launches SQL Server 2022 Preview Evaluation Version for RHEL 9 and Ubuntu 22.04, Valid for 180 Days.
In a press release dated August 12th, Microsoft has announced the release of the preview evaluation version of SQL Server 2022 for two major distributions, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 and Ubuntu 22.04.
For a limited duration of 180 days, Microsoft is introducing the preview evaluation version of SQL Server 2022 for RHEL 9 and Ubuntu 22.04.
Note: This evaluation version became available from July 27th, 2023 (Thursday) and will be accessible for a span of 180 days.
In development/testing environments, Microsoft has expressed that users can explore the various improvements of SQL Server 2022 on either the RHEL 9 or Ubuntu 22.04 distributions.
Microsoft further states that server administrators, by installing the new “mssql-server-selinux” package and enabling SELinux and enforcing mode, have the option to include SQL Server 2022 for operation.
System administrators have the option to install SQL Server 2022 using the previously available “mssql-server” software package.
Administrators can also access new packages for RHEL 9 and Ubuntu 22.04 as container images.
