Microsoft has warned that .NET Framework 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1 will reach their end of support as soon as this month, and users are apparently being told to update to the new version as soon as possible.

“On April 26, 2022, .NET Framework 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1 will reach their end of support, after this date, Microsoft will no longer provide updates including security fixes and technical support for these versions. Any other . NET Framework versions are unchanged.

If you are using .NET Framework 4.5.2, 4.6 or 4.6.1, you will need to upgrade to a later version to maintain support,” the company explained.

Microsoft explained that such a change was necessary because it is now focusing on newer digital certificates, and these older versions use SHA-1, which is clearly behind the times.

“If you are currently using the .NET Framework 4.5.2, 4.6 or 4.6.1 runtime, you will need to update your deployed runtime to a newer version – at least .NET – by April 26, 2022 Framework 4.6.2 in order to continue to receive updates and technical support.
