Musk: Many people can afford to fly to Mars if the costs is $100K.

Assuming a $100,000 flight to Mars, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in an interview at TED conference that almost everyone can afford it.

In the next few decades, Musk’s space exploration technology company SpaceX plans to build a self-sufficient city on Mars.

At the recent TED conference, Musk was interviewed by TED conference founder Chris Anderson (Chris Anderson) on related issues.

Talking about the price of a trip to Mars, Anderson asked if tickets could be as low as a few hundred thousand dollars. Musk replied that the price point will depend in part on the economy, but also needs to make Mars travel affordable enough to attract about 1 million people to build cities on Mars.

“If it takes $100,000 to fly to Mars, I think almost everyone can make $100,000 by working. If they want to go, they can go,” Musk said, adding: “For any We are willing to serve those who want to go.”

Analysts said the scenario Musk described appeared to be based on people selling their homes and other assets.

In the interview, Musk also mentioned other possible sources of funding, such as government sponsorship or loans.

Musk had previously expected a round-trip fare to Mars between $100,000 and $500,000, which would eventually drop to $100,000.

Musk said in 2020 that he wants to build 1,000 SpaceX Starships within 10 years to send 1 million people to Mars by 2050 and build a city there.

Later, Musk hinted that humans are expected to land on Mars in 2029.

In December last year, Musk also said that SpaceX will send humans to Mars within five years at the earliest and 10 years at the latest.
