OPPO Next-Generation Flagship Supports Satellite Communications
On November 10th, OPPO made an official announcement via their social media that the upcoming flagship product of the Find series will support satellite communication technology.
Based on the teasers, it seems that the next-generation flagship referred to by OPPO is the soon-to-be-released OPPO Find X7.

This marks another Chinese smartphone to adopt this technology after Huawei pioneered support for satellite communication.
Reportedly, today, Chinese smartphone manufacturers such as OPPO, Huawei, Xiaomi, vivo, and Honor will gather in Guangzhou to collaborate with China Telecom on innovating and popularizing “direct-to-satellite” technology for mobile devices.
With satellite communication, smartphones can establish immediate contact with the outside world in extreme scenarios without ground networks, enabling necessary communication for rescue operations.
Apart from satellite communication, the OPPO Find X7 series will debut a brand-new imaging technology architecture, the Ultra Vision Imaging System, a collaboration between OPPO and Hasselblad.
The company stated that this new Ultra Vision Imaging System will offer a comprehensive solution for primary imaging, providing users with multi-focal lengths for daily creative use. It will also empower each focal length with high-quality capabilities for both daytime and nighttime shooting.
China Telecom has announced that the Satellite Mobile Communication Industry Development Forum of the 2023 Digital Technology Ecological Conference will be held this afternoon in Guangzhou.
According to media reports, major Chinese smartphone giants such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, and Honor will convene in Guangzhou to collaborate with China Telecom on innovations and widespread adoption of “direct-to-satellite” technology for mobile devices.
In August this year, Huawei partnered with Telecom to enable satellite calls on the Mate 60 Pro. However, no other manufacturers have followed suit, sparking speculation about “Huawei monopolizing satellite communication technology.”
During the recent 2023 World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, China Telecom stated, “Huawei hasn’t monopolized satellite communication technology and is planning to collaborate with more smartphone manufacturers.”
“But implementing satellite communication on phones does present certain technological barriers, such as miniaturizing chip modules, optimizing satellite protocols, and managing user terminals.”
Reportedly, executives from Huawei, BYD, Iridium, Honor, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, and other manufacturers have recorded teaser videos for this event.
Just now, OPPO officially announced that their next-generation Find flagship will support satellite communication. More updates are expected this afternoon.
