Recently, Shenzhen Xunlong Software Co., Ltd.’s open-source product brand, Orange Pi, announced that they are on the verge of releasing Orange Pi OS (OH), a customized development based on OpenHarmony. This will be an open-source HarmonyOS system for PCs.

Official statements indicate that Orange Pi OS (OH) has completed HDMI adaptation, 5-inch LCD display adaptation, touchscreen functionality, customized system applications, startup animations, themes, wallpapers, settings, file managers, and more.

This adaptation now supports the normal power on and off of devices. Original applications include the taskbar, control center, settings, file manager, input method, browser, player, and an app store.

Furthermore, it offers basic functionality to run popular apps, making it suitable for basic office and entertainment needs.

According to the plan, Orange Pi OS (OH) will initially adapt to three devices with ARM architecture CPUs.

These devices are the Orange Pi 3B development board with RK3566, the Orange Pi 5 development board with RK3588S, and the Orange Pi 5 Plus development board with RK3588.

It is worth mentioning that Orange Pi OS (OH) is currently only adapted for PC with ARM architecture, and the official plan is to adapt it for X86 architecture PCs in the future.

The official introduction from the Orange Pi team states that Orange Pi OS offers an Orange Pi OS desktop for the Orange Pi series of development boards, keyboard computers, and other PCs.

It can run Android, Windows, and Linux applications, with features such as fast performance, security, aesthetics, and a straightforward interface.
