Qualcomm Announces Launch of 10G Fiber + Wi-Fi 7 Home Gateway Platform for Ultimate Home Connectivity Performance.
On Sep 23, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. unveiled its 10G fiber gateway platform designed for home use, along with its signature features.
The majority of users experience broadband services via Wi-Fi.
In today’s broadband systems, the access network from service providers to homes and the Wi-Fi within homes are managed separately – given the diversity of endpoints, applications, connectivity technologies, and the near-constant changes in all these elements, maintaining service quality throughout the entire network is very challenging.

Qualcomm’s newly released service-defined Wi-Fi technology addresses this management challenge by offering a unified data stream management architecture from the cloud to endpoints. It provides coordination, categorization, scheduling, and hole-punching capabilities to help ensure meeting user expectations for 10G fiber performance – adapting to user activities, whether they are gaming, streaming, video conferencing, or sharing content.
Rahul Patel, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm’s Connectivity, Broadband, and Networking business, stated that by incorporating 10G fiber, along with 5G and Wi-Fi 7 in the technology mix, a range of compelling solutions can now be offered to help service providers drive revenue growth, innovate services, and deliver more immersive and engaging user experiences.
This latest development in home gateways will accelerate the ongoing transformation of home Wi-Fi networks, noted Andrew Spivey, Senior Analyst at ABI Research. With rapid deployments of fiber optic cables and the simultaneous decline of traditional cable and DSL technologies, the introduction of the new platform, combined with Qualcomm’s Wi-Fi 7 technology, is timely and will help support higher levels of home network performance by providing consumers with guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS).
