Aurora OS is developed based on Sailfish OS, which originated from MeeGo and was developed by the Finnish company Jolla as a mobile operating system.

How does Aurora OS differ from other operating systems?

Aurora OS sets itself apart from other operating systems in several ways:

  1. Russian Origin: It’s developed by a Russian company, distinguishing it from many mainstream operating systems originating from the US or other regions.

  2. User Interface and Gestures: Aurora OS emphasizes a new user interface and gesture controls, which have been redesigned based on extensive industrial usage and user research. This design focus could offer a unique user experience compared to other operating systems.

  3. Focus on Multitasking and Work Scenarios: The OS aims to enhance the usability of devices, particularly in work environments. It’s tailored to optimize large tablet screens and provide increased efficiency in multitasking scenarios, which might differ from the primary focus of other operating systems.

  4. Independence from Major Tech Companies: As it’s developed by a local Russian company, Aurora OS might not be as reliant on or connected to major tech corporations from other countries, potentially offering more autonomy in its development and security features.

  5. Based on Sailfish OS: It’s built on the foundation of Sailfish OS, which has its roots in MeeGo. While it’s a branch from an existing OS, the modifications and improvements made in Aurora OS might make it stand out from its predecessors in terms of features and performance.

Overall, Aurora OS distinguishes itself through its specific focus on user experience, work-centric usability, and its origins in Russia, providing potential differentiation from mainstream operating systems.
