On  August 15 The well-known Linux distribution Debian 11 was officially released yesterday. This version is codenamed Bullseye and will receive long-term support from the Debian team in the next 5 years.

According to the official announcement, Debian 11 Bullseye comes with multiple desktop applications and environments, including:

• Gnome 3.38,

• KDE Plasma 5.20,

• LXDE 11,

• LXQt 0.16,

• MATE 1.24,

• Xfce 4.16.

Debian 11 contains more than 11,294 new packages for a total of 59,551 packages, while significantly reducing more than 9,519 packages marked as obsolete and deleted. In addition, Debian 11 has updated 42,821 packages, and 5,434 packages remain unchanged.

Debian 11 is the first Debian version of the Linux kernel that supports the exFAT file system and uses it by default to mount the exFAT file system. Therefore, it is no longer necessary to use the user space file system provided by the exfat-fuse package. The exfatprogs package provides tools for creating and checking exFAT file system.

Debian 11 has also improved the printer function , and proposed a new package ipp-usb, which uses the vendor-neutral IPP-over-USB protocol supported by many modern printers. This allows USB devices to be treated as network devices. The official SANE driverless backend is provided by sane-escl in libsane1, which uses the eSCL protocol.

Chinese, Japanese, Korean and other languages ​​now have a new Fcitx 5 input method , which is the successor of the popular Fcitx 4 in buster. Fcitx 5 has better Wayland (default display manager) plug-in support.
