1 min readToshiba 20TB hard drives will be available soon.
The 20TB hard drives of Seagate and Western Digital are already on the market, so what is the progress of Toshiba, the third largest HDD manufacturer?
Actually Toshiba MG10 series hard drives have passed the SATA interoperability certification test, in addition to data center, enterprise-level high-capacity, and 20TB for client desktops and NAS.
The largest capacity Toshiba currently sells is the MG09 series, 9-disc helium-filled, flux-controlled-microwave-assisted magnetic recording technology (FC-MAMR).
In fact, prior to this, Toshiba had already confirmed in its financial report that it would launch a 10-disc 20TB FC-MAMR hard drive in fiscal 2021 before the end of March 31, 2021.
In other words, the official launch should be within the next few weeks.
For consumers, the increase in 20TB products means an expanded range of choices, and differences in price, parameters, and performance also help to choose the most suitable product for them.
It is also worth mentioning that Toshiba has also planned technologies such as MAS-MAMR (Microwave Assisted Switching-Microwave Assisted Magnetic Recording), HAMR (Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording), etc. It plans to release a 30TB mechanical hard disk in 2023 and a 35TB capacity hard drive in 2025, with a capacity greater than 40TB in 2026.
