Firefox Offers Over 450 New Extensions for Android Users
Mozilla has officially announced the availability of over 450 new Firefox Android extensions for users on the Addons.mozilla.org (AMO) Android page.
“This milestone marks the launch of a new open mobile extension ecosystem, where developers can freely create and publish extensions, and users can easily access and install these extensions on Firefox for Android,” said Vicky Chin, Vice President of Engineering at Firefox.
Chin emphasized that extensions were originally meant as a way for people to customize their internet experience. Firefox is currently the only major Android browser that supports an open extension ecosystem. They plan to enable more extensions in the coming months, providing users with a variety of options to customize their mobile internet experience.
In today’s world, people rely on mobile devices for various activities such as quick information searches, reading articles, listening to music, and finding recipes. Some of the available extensions include:
-
Midnight Lizard – Easier Reading
The Midnight Lizard extension allows users to adjust the color of the phone interface, increase or decrease brightness and contrast, and add features such as blue light filters, screen shaders, and night mode to reduce eye fatigue and maintain good eye health.
-
Dark Background and Light Text – Keep it Simple
Users can freely customize all web pages to be presented with a dark background and light text, or choose this presentation style for only selected web pages.
-
Global Radio – Enjoy to the Fullest
Directly access over 50,000 radio stations from around the world through the Android version of the Firefox browser.
The announcement stated that with more developers creating content optimized for mobile devices, a new wave of Firefox for Android extensions is expected to emerge in the coming months.
