Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon X Elite Processor for Windows OS
On October 25, 2023, at the annual Snapdragon Summit held in Hawaii, Qualcomm Technologies unveiled the long-awaited Snapdragon X Elite personal computer processor.
The company promises a “significant leap in performance, delivering best-in-class CPU performance,” advanced artificial intelligence processing capabilities, and one of the “most efficient processors” in the personal computer market with “several days” of battery life.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite is a 4-nanometer System-on-Chip (SoC) equipped with 12 high-performance cores, with a maximum clock speed of up to 3.8GHz. Two of these cores can surpass this limit, reaching a maximum frequency of 4.3GHz. The manufacturer claims that their latest PC chip can double CPU performance at maximum power while achieving a 68% reduction in power consumption compared to competitors (Intel i7-1360P and i7-1355U).
Compared to Intel’s high-performance mobile processors, the Snapdragon X Elite can achieve the same performance level with a 65% reduction in power consumption.
Another area where the Snapdragon X Elite excels is its integrated Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). It offers twice the graphics processing speed of Intel Core i7-13800H processors while reducing power consumption by 74%, delivering performance comparable to Intel Core i7-13800H processors. In terms of display, the Adreno GPU can support up to three external 4K 60Hz monitors.

Other features of the Snapdragon X Elite SoC include support for mmWave and sub-6 5G modems, an integrated neural processing unit (boosting AI task processing speed by up to 4.5 times the competition), up to 64GB of LPDDR5x memory, Wi-Fi 7, and USB 4.0 support.
It is anticipated that the first wave of computers featuring the Snapdragon X Elite platform will hit the market in mid-2024.
