World’s Fastest LPDDR5 Memory Officially Debuts!
High-speed memory is crucial for smartphone performance, and now we welcome both Micron’s latest LPDDR5X and SK Hynix’s exclusive LPDDR5T, both boasting data transfer rates of up to 9.6 Gbps (GT/s).
Micron’s LPDDR5X-9600 is manufactured using its latest 1β process, with a single chip offering a maximum capacity of 16GB (the number of dies used is unspecified), and it achieves a 12% increase in speed compared to the previous fastest LPDDR5X-8533.
Micron has mentioned that the new memory incorporates an enhanced version of dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technology, which is common on PC processors. According to Micron, it reduces power consumption by up to 30% compared to competitors using the 1α process for LPDDR5X.
SK Hynix’s LPDDR5T-9600 was announced earlier and is developed in deep collaboration with MediaTek. It passed validation in August of this year.

Its single-chip packaging also offers a maximum capacity of 16GB, manufactured using the 1α process. The VDD voltage range is 1.01-1.12V, and the VDDQ voltage is 10.5V. In comparison, LPDDR5X has a maximum VDD voltage of 1.1V, meaning LPDDR5T has slightly increased it.
Micron’s LPDDR5X-9600 is expected to become the standard memory for flagship devices featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen3, while SK Hynix’s LPDDR5T-9600 will likely be the primary choice for MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 flagship devices, and can also be used with Snapdragon 8 Gen3 platforms.
