Apple’s budget-friendly iPhone 17e, set to debut in March 2026, will maintain a 60Hz display despite the standard iPhone 17’s upgrade to 120Hz earlier this year.
While the refresh rate stays unchanged, the device will finally adopt the Dynamic Island design, marking the end of the notch era across Apple’s entire iPhone lineup.

High Refresh Rate Proves Market Success
The iPhone 17’s introduction of a 120Hz display has proven tremendously successful, with sales doubling compared to its predecessor. This overwhelming response demonstrates consumer appetite for smoother, more fluid screen experiences. However, Apple’s strategy remains focused on product differentiation rather than universal feature adoption across all price points.
Renowned analyst Mark Gurman confirmed in his latest report that the iPhone 17e will deliberately maintain its 60Hz display to establish clear market segmentation between the entry-level and standard models.
Design Evolution: Dynamic Island Arrives
Despite the display refresh rate limitation, the iPhone 17e brings a significant visual upgrade by adopting the Dynamic Island interface, completely replacing the traditional notch design. This change dramatically improves screen-to-body ratio and visual cohesion, bringing the entry-level model in line with Apple’s current design language.
The device retains a lightweight aluminum frame and features a single 48-megapixel rear camera. While lacking multiple lens options, Apple’s computational photography algorithms should deliver solid everyday imaging performance.
Strong Internal Performance
Where the iPhone 17e truly shines is under the hood. The device packs the same A19 chip found in the standard iPhone 17, manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 3nm (N3E) process. The processor features a 6-core CPU (2 performance + 4 efficiency cores) and a 5-core GPU, delivering approximately 20% better graphics performance compared to the A18 chip.
The device may also debut Apple’s second-generation C2 baseband chip, potentially offering improved network stability and signal reception over previous models.
