The M5 chip features a sophisticated architecture with either 3 or 4 high-performance CPU cores paired with 6 high-efficiency cores. Graphics processing is handled by a 10-core GPU, while machine learning tasks benefit from a 16-core Neural Engine specifically designed for AI workloads.

Enhanced Memory and Storage Performance

Memory bandwidth has received a substantial upgrade, reaching 153GB/s—approximately 30% faster than the previous generation. Apple has also raised the baseline unified memory configuration, now offering 12GB or 16GB options, eliminating the previous 8GB base configuration. Storage transfer speeds have been doubled, ensuring faster app launches and file operations.

Both the 11-inch and 13-inch models are available in four configuration options:
